From Texas to the Middle East

Jim Becka was born in Temple, Texas and moved to Beaumont, Texas at the age of ten. After graduation from high school, he lived in Atlanta, Boston, and Jerusalem before returning to Beaumont. He has lived in Splendora, Texas the past fifteen years and is married with two children.

Education: He received a B.S. in journalism from Lamar University in 1976; a post-baccalaureate certificate from the University of Texas - Medical Center (Medical Instructional Design) in 1989; a M.Ed. from the University of Houston (Curriculum and Instruction) in 1992; and a M.Ed. from Lamar University in educational administration in 2008.

Other Training/Certifications: Paramedic License - College of the Mainland (1983-Present); Secondary Journalism teacher certification (1999-Present); Technology Applications teacher certification (2008-Present); Principal certification (2008-Present); PDAS evaluator certification (2008-Present); EMS-Coordinator certification (1989-2004); and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) instructor certification 1988-2000. He was a CPR Instructor/Training for 15 years.
